On Location…. Dimmet Devon

If you were a child of the 70s or have a real affinity with that decade then I have JUST the holiday home for you.

Nestled in the gently sloping hillside above the beautifully traditional north Devon village of Braunton, sits a bungalow.  A quiet, unassuming bungalow that from the outside looks like its neighbours.

Turn the key in the door though and you’ll step into the most incredible, tasteful, retro holiday let that’s crying out for you to reach for the Spam!

Soak up the vibe

When you first walk through the door to Dimmet Devon, there’s a really homely air to greet you.  It’s a bit like those times when you went to visit your Gran and there was an undeniable warmth waiting to envelop you.  Dimmet is about to get under your skin.

Now I was a child of the 70s but my parents’ house was always a bit chintzy with a walloping great dose of magnolia, we weren’t surrounded by walls of bold patterns and clashing colours.  My mum was a bit too John Lewis for that.  Our house, built in the early ’70s, wasn’t given the avocado bathroom that many of that era had – it had its more feminine version instead, that intense pink that hurt your eyes first thing in the morning.

But our house had very typical 70s items around it, including a very large String Art piece my mum proudly made.  If you’ve never heard of these, Google String Art.

On walking into the lounge at Dimmet the very first thing I noticed before I’d even set the camera case down was a proper piece of String Art about the fireplace.

Welcome to the 70s!

Where Modern needs meet Mood beads

Let me just say this, just because the interior has been designed with a beautiful nod to the 70s, it’s a holiday home that meets all the needs and comforts of the modern world.

So don’t panic, they’ve got you covered.

Whether it’s Wifi to stream to your heart’s content or a 1970s classic boxset to watch while you laze in the lounge on the most incredible orange sofa, there’s a way to suit.  Get a takeaway delivered or try a recipe straight from Fanny Craddock’s cookbooks, it’s all available to enjoy.

I just implore you to soak up the atmosphere, check out the retro entertainment options and don’t forget your bucket & spade because nearby Saunton Sands is legendary.

Thanks for reading.
